The Pegu Club Revival

The Pegu Club is one of the most iconic pieces of architectural heritage in Yangon, with a strong history tied to the British Colonial period. Sitting on 6.4 acres of land, The Pegu Club has among one of the largest green outdoor space in Yangon.

Originally built to host The Prince of Wales, Edward VIII, upon his visit to what was known as Burma in 1882 , The Pegu Club served as a prestigious Gentlemen’s club to the British Army officers and businessmen.

Playing host to other notable guests such as Rudyard Kipling and George Orwell, with important literary works finding their beginnings within these decadent walls,

The Pegu Club was an important feature in Rangoon’s aristocratic social circle for many years, with a very deep and interesting history attached to it.
For the past decade ,The Pegu Club has been empty and left in a state of disrepair.

Together with our heritage architects the Beaumont Partnership and interior design firm Citizen ID, we have taken a considered and thoughtful approach to the redevelopment plan of the site accordance with the Yangon Heritage Trust conservation guideline.

Adapting with the current market characteristics in Yangon, The Pegu Club development plan will comprise in two phases;  the  first phase will involve the renovation of some of the original structures into an exclusive event venue with seven special spaces. The second phase will scale The Pegu Club into one of Yangon’s most desirable hospitality and residential hubs, with a boutique hotel, premium residences and world-class complementary facilities- an intricate blend of luxury, history and exquisite design, honouring Myanmar’s heritage.
